Is there a god

The question if there is a God arises only in a mind that struggles for an explanation, which, at some point in every life, is every mind.

Why do things happen the way they happen? Why are there pain, destruction, murder, and traffic jams? If there is a God why would he allow such atrocities?

Such questions seem like important philosophical questions to ask but really they are avoidance of the real inquiry.

Why do we want to know if there is a God?

Because we are afraid.

We want there to be some underlying meaning-maker behind all this dualistic mess of pain and pleasure.

But what if there is none?

What if there simply is whatever is without cause or reason?

What if the idea of a God (an external Other) is simply a way to avoid looking into the abyss?

We think we are afraid that there may be a malicious elite manipulating and controlling us but what is even scarier?

No one’s doing anything. No one’s in control.

The reigns are lying on the floor, yet they can’t be grasped. They are the rope that has disappeared after it has first been mistaken for a snake.

We are afraid to look and even ponder the idea of eternal nothingness, meaninglessness, and void because we assume that this is not what we want.

And we are right, it is not what we want, but it is what we claim we want.

And whatever it is we claim we want, be it freedom, love, happiness, peace, or God, it is all there.

Yet by there, I don’t mean there in relation to here, nor do I mean here in relation to there.

It simply is, wherever.

If you truly want to know if there is a God, ask who is asking the question. Inquire with pure intention.

Fear will arise and you’ll try to run. You don’t need to face or confront the fear, that’s easy. You need to surrender into it.

Be courageous, you can’t outrun the fear forever, sooner or later it will catch up.

Fear is misrepresented as something you have to get away from but what if it is the opposite? What if you have to directly look at it?

What is the fear trying to protect? What is behind the fear?

Peek behind the curtain.

Fear is trying to protect an illusion or rather fear is trying to protect nothing – literally and figuratively speaking.

Yet this nothing is not nothing nothing but rather everything nothing

With full surrender, it will hit you:

There is no God, there is only God.

Whatever you are is whatever God is.

How could it be otherwise?
