Synonyms for all that you are

Often the words that represent the values most of us strive for or at least consider desirable, are synonyms for what we already are. Which is why we don’t need to strive for them and instead, recognize them.

Freedom: Try to find the boundaries, the limits, the demarcations to your experience. Don’t go into the mind and imagine something. Look here and now. Is there any constraint on this boundless freedom that you are? Is there anything outside of it? This what you are is what true freedom is. Every other freedom is a conditional freedom, dependent on specific appearances. But this pure freedom is unconditional, unaffected, and unlimited.

Abundance: Look around. Is anything lacking? Is lack even possible? No way, Jose. You might see an abundance of lack, but there can never be a lack of abundance. Abundance means “a great or plentiful amount.” And this, what you are, is in such plentiful amount it is never diminished or increased. It is infinite.

Truth: There is only one truth around and it is what you are. This what you are is, no matter what else might seem to be happening. It’s true for everyone you could ever imagine and it can never be made untrue. It’s the one “thing” that is not relative. It’s true now, has always been true, will always be true.

Ease: What you are doesn’t struggle. It doesn’t effort. It doesn’t try. Look for yourself. How much effort does it take to be aware of a sound? How much effort does it take to be aware of the colors dancing before you? None. Zero. There is no deliberate effort involved whatsoever. There is no resistance or uphill struggle. It is perfect ease.

Happiness: Happiness means being content with what is. Does this, what you are, need or want anything? No, it doesn’t. It’s perfectly content with what is present. Stop thinking for a moment. Does anything need to be different? It doesn’t need different circumstances or experiences. It is unconditional happiness. It is eternal contentment.

Peace: Your true nature is free from disagreements. It has no basis on which to disagree with anything. It is everything. It is at peace with itself. It is peace of mind beyond the mind. There are no wars it wants to fight or arguments it wants to win. There are no thoughts or emotions it wants to eliminate. There is no other or better peace.

Wholeness: Look at what you are. Is it incomplete? Is it partial? Is it fragmented? Could it be more? Look at this and then take a stance. It is either whole or it isn’t — there is no in-between. So what is it? My bet is it is whole. There is nothing outside of it or hidden from it or missing from it. It’s complete right out of the box.

Perfection: Concepts and appearances may appear imperfect. But is that really so? Is a withering flower imperfect? When you make a mistake could there be a more perfect one of its kind? Imperfection only exists in comparison, in imagination. And what you are can’t even appear to be imperfect. You are not a concept or appearance. What you are is non-conceptual. What you are is so perfect, it’s beyond ideas of perfection and imperfection. It is what allows such ideas to arise. It is what allows anything to arise. It’s like a duck’s back if a duck’s back was invincible — nothing can tarnish or hurt or even alter it. It is perfection. Pure and simple.

Love: Human love is often nothing more than an affection-rejection duality. But true love is unconditional acceptance. It loves no matter what. Things might be this way and there is love. Things might be that way and there is love. This what you are has been shining upon everything in your life with the unwavering and undiminishing light of unconditional acceptance and attention. It never demands anything to change so that it is more acceptable, more lovable. It is here for it all — the pain, the pleasure, and everything in between.

Is there anything else you might want from life?

And contrary to what our minds might say, these things we want we can’t have because it is what we are. You don’t need to go out and make them happen. You don’t need to work hard for any of it. (Though you may work hard to attain conceptual ideas of it.)

Instead, look and see if they aren’t already an expression of your own essence. Recognize what you are and then see if any quality you might desire is actually missing.

You might realize that you are already everything you want to be.

P.S. Know any more synonyms? Shoot!
