What is Subconscious Reprogramming?

how to reprogram your subconscious mind

What does it mean to reprogram your subconscious mind?

Subconscious reprogramming is when you change your subconscious beliefs and habits to align with your desired life. Often what keeps us from living the life we want are subconscious programs and beliefs.

For example, you might always subconsciously do the same things but expect a different outcome. Or you may have underlying beliefs like, “I’m not worthy of success.”, “I’m not smart, capable, or wealthy enough.”, “There is no way I can do this.”, “It’s better to play it safe.”

Limiting subconscious beliefs often stem from childhood.

In those years you were easily susceptible to programming. If your parents, for instance, told you “money is evil” there is a chance that you still hold this belief subconsciously. Hence, even though you would like more money, you’re telling money to stay the heck away from you.

So, the goal of reprograming your subconscious mind is to uncover old limiting beliefs and rewrite them into new empowering one’s.

How Long Does it Take to Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind?

In a world where we have barely any time anymore and want fast results, there’s one important question.

How long does it take to reprogram your subconscious mind?

I know you would like a definite answer to this. At least that’s what I searched for. I wanted someone to assure me that my subconscious mind will be reprogrammed in such and such a time.

But the truth is that there are so many factors, many of which are unknown to us, that there is no one answer for this.

Some factors that play a role are:

• The current state of your subconscious mind (beliefs, thoughts, behaviors, etc.)

• How much effort you put into reprogramming.

• How much of your subconscious mind you want to reprogram.

Let’s say you want to reprogram your subconscious mind to attract money.

The speed at which you can change your subconscious depends on your existing beliefs about money, how you talk about money, how you spend money, how you feel about money, what money means to you, and so on.

Depending on where you start, and your commitment first results can happen faster than you think. But to uncover and change every limiting belief may take some time and investigation.

However, I don’t want to leave you in the dry so I’ll give you some numbers.

Some say it takes between 22-66 days to reprogram your subconscious. Others may experience results after 7 days. But depending on your limiting beliefs it may take months, or even up to a year, or more to see results.

This article provides you with tools that if used in combination and with commitment can assure you the fastest success with subconscious reprogramming.

How to Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind Fast

For the best success, I suggest you combine the following techniques and exercises.

But don’t make this an arduous task.

You shouldn’t feel like it’s an unpleasant commitment. Remember that reprogramming your subconscious mind is changing your life around.

Subconscious reprogramming is a powerful way to create the life you want. So be happy and excited about it.

Observe Your Thoughts, Language, and Emotions

Observe Your Thoughts, Language, and Emotions

Your thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and visual imagery create your reality. So, it’s vital to create a mindset that is in alignment with who you want to be.

The first step is to become a diligent observer of your thoughts, language, and emotions. They can give you the first hint of your subconscious beliefs.

How do you talk to yourself? How do you use language? What emotions come up in what situation?

Then, write those down.

When I started doing this, for instance, I realized that I was frequently saying: “Better safe than sorry.”

This uncovered the limiting belief that “it’s better to play it safe than to take risks.” But part of living a fulfilled life is taking risks. And most things worth pursuing require some degree of risk-taking.

By becoming aware of this I stopped saying that phrase and rewrote that belief into a new empowering one. “Taking risks is part of life and behind every risk is a great opportunity.”

Make a commitment for at least one week and you’ll be surprised by how much you will have uncovered.

Write New Beliefs

Write New Beliefs

Whenever you find any limiting belief write it down and write a new empowering one instead.

Observing your thoughts and emotions, and the way you speak is a good way to uncover limiting beliefs.

For instance, you might find the belief that “having too much money is bad.” Now what you do is question this belief.

Is having too much money really bad?

Think about all the good things money has accomplished and imagine what awesome things you could do with “having too much money”.

Here is a list of some things you can do:

• Take your parents on that trip to Africa they always wanted to do.

• Treat your friends to a nice dinner.

• Build your dream house.

• Donate more money to your favorite charity.

• Move to Thailand like you always wanted to do.

• Invest in sustainable businesses.

• Give you more freedom over your time.

Stop thinking that money will somehow make you a “bad person”. Money is not bad. It’s a tool, an energy you can use for good, or bad.

Now that you have found out that having too much money is good write down a new belief: “Having a lot of money is good because it enables me to live the life I want and do a lot of good in the world.”

Whenever you uncover a new limiting belief go through that same process.

Use Positive Affirmations

Now use your new beliefs as positive affirmations, preferably before bed and after waking up.

Using them in the evening before and in the morning after bed, is especially effective because your rational mind is not completely awake. Your inner guardian is still resting so to speak.

Positive affirmations are a powerful way to reprogram your subconscious. Many successful people, such as Oprah, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jim Carrey, attribute part of their success to positive affirmations.

Research in neuroscience suggests that through the use of positive affirmations certain neural pathways can be increased (1). Also, research in psychology shows that practicing affirmations can promote a broader perspective on the self (2).

Make your affirmations your mantra. Think them, say them, write them, feel them.

Use Visualizations

Use Visualizations

Another powerful way to reprogram your subconscious mind is by using visualizations.

Although they’re called visualizations for the best results you should do more than just visualize them. Imagine what you hear, smell, and most importantly how you feel.

Here are a couple of ways to use visualizations.

Visualize a Short Scene Repeatedly

Create a short scene in your mind where your desire(s) are fulfilled. You can, for example, imagine yourself on your porch at your dream beach house.

Now in your visualization repeat this short scene. The benefit of this technique is that you don’t lose your focus as easily.

This is something you can do in the morning and evening for five minutes.

Visualize Your Dream Life

You can also visualize a longer elaborate scene with everything your dreamlife includes.

It’s important to state, however, that it’s easy to drift off into daydreaming. Keeping your emotions and visualizations up requires focus, especially in the beginning.

But with time, you’ll shift into that feeling easier, into the feeling of your dream being already fulfilled, which it is.

Visualize Your Perfect Day

Ask yourself what your perfect day in your perfect dream life would look like. Visualize it from beginning to end.

Some questions that can help you figure out your perfect day:

Where are you? Are you at home? Living in a foreign country? Traveling? Beachside? Lakeside? Mountainside?

What do you do the whole day? When do you wake up? What do you eat for breakfast? Lunch? Dinner? What activities are you spending your time on? When do you go to bed?

How does your perfect day feel at every moment?

When you are clear on your perfect day you are ready to visualize it.

Always keep in mind that if some parts of your visualization don’t feel right anymore you’re free to change them.

Feel it as Already Done

When it comes to reprograming your subconscious mind including feelings is crucial.

Saying your positive affirmations and doing your visualizations while feeling what it feels like when your desires are already fulfilled will make them much more effective.

First, become clear on what you want. Second, ask yourself how you would feel if your want was already fulfilled. Then, ask yourself if you can evoke the emotion.

In the beginning, it might be harder to evoke the emotion. But the more you do it the easier it will get. Keeping up the emotion requires some focus.

For instance, you are doing visualizations and realize that the positive emotion loses intensity. Often the reason for this is that you are losing concentration.

Hence, you can see this not only as subconscious reprogramming but also practice for focus. Sharp focus can come in handy in many areas of your life.

Additionally, you may also use the affirmation “it is done.” Everything already exists in the here and now. And the more your faith increases the more you’ll feel that “it is done.”

Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind While Sleeping

Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind While Sleeping

Reprograming your subconscious mind while sleeping is not only effective but also effortless. All you have to do is play affirmations while you are sleeping.

This works because the subconscious mind never sleeps.

So, even when you are fast asleep your subconscious still hears what’s happening in the waking world. Another reason why this works so well is that your conscious mind is asleep.

When you say positive affirmations while you’re awake, the conscious mind can easily swoop in as a critic. It’s acting like the guardian of a great treasure.

For example, you might be affirming “I am abundant, wealthy, and happy.” And suddenly your conscious mind crashes the party saying stuff like:

“Have you recently looked into your bank account? Doesn’t seem wealthy to me. What do you mean happy, haven’t you just cried yesterday?”

So, by using nighttime affirmations you are circumventing your inner critic.

There are plenty of videos on YouTube you can use. Some even use binaural beats to keep your brainwave in the desired range.

You can also record your own affirmations and play them on repeat.

This is just a guess, but recording your own could be even more effective. Because you hear your own voice, instead of someone else’s, the subconscious mind might accept the affirmations faster.

Act as if

I’m sure you have heard the phrase: “Fake ‘til you make it.” Well, now we are doing something similar.

In addition to using the previous methods for reprogramming, act as if all your desires are fulfilled.

Ask yourself what your greatest version would be like and what it would do. And then start being and doing that. If your greatest version owns a business, then take the first step to start that business.

How grateful, generous, happy, and loving is your greatest version?

If you’re using the above techniques to reprogram your subconscious for wealth but act like you’re poor, you’re giving mixed signals.

I’m not saying to spend your money mindlessly on things you don’t need. But your wealthy self is probably not stingy and doesn’t worry about spending 3 dollars on a Cappuccino.

Also, if you are generous you are acting from a place of abundance. And in turn, more abundance will come to you.

By being generous and giving you are telling the universe that you have. This is because you can only give what you have. In turn, this will give you the experience of having.

Be Present

Be Present in the here and now

Before you start getting all caught up in your head don’t forget to be present in the here and now.

All the above-mentioned techniques shouldn’t be a way to dodge your current state of being.

Being present is a crucial step in reprogramming your subconscious mind. If you’ve been living in the past and the future most of your life take a look at where this got you.

In the end, we all want to be happy. But to be happy you have to BE first.

The more you’re present, the better you’ll feel, and the happier you’ll be. By being the person you want to be (e.g. a happy person) all of the doing and having will fall into place.

Subconscious reprogramming takes some faith and trust. But the more you use the techniques mentioned here the bigger will your faith and trust become.

And remember that it’s normal to feel uncomfortable or anxious when you start to take action towards the fulfillment of your dreams. You will feel weird and uneasy when you leave your comfort zone.

See that as a sign that you are on the right track. Your capacity to feel uncomfortable is a good indicator of success.
