Spiritual awakening

Most of us have heard of the subconscious and unconscious mind. But few have come across the term superconscious mind.

But a lot of people have experienced a superconscious state without being aware of it. Now you might be wondering what exactly is the superconscious mind?

What is The Superconscious Mind?

The Superconscious Mind

The superconscious mind has many definitions. But essentially the superconscious is heightened awareness.

It’s a state of wisdom and intuition. Often the superconscious mind is referred to as the higher Self. This is a state above subconsciousness and consciousness.

The superconscious state connects you to a higher state of being and functioning. For instance, when you find yourself in a flow-state or “in the zone” you are tapping into the superconscious potential.

It’s also the place where true creativity and genius are found. An infinite source of wisdom and inspiration. A dwell of limitless potential. Some sources even say it is the place where your desires come from.

How do you know you are experiencing superconsciousness?

Simple.

The superconscious state is characterized by peace, calmness, love, bliss, and joy.

What is The Difference Between Superconscious and Subconscious Mind?

Whereas the subconscious mind is associated with a relaxed and dream state, the superconscious does not turn down energy. The superconscious state is a highly peaceful and energetic state of being.

One of the first westerners to investigate the superconscious mind was Professor Jules-Bois.

Professor Jules-Bois, member of the L’Ecole de Psychologie of the Sorbonne, lectured in America in 1928. He told his audiences that French scientists have accorded recognition to the superconsciousness, “which is the exact opposite of Freud’s subconscious mind and is the faculty which makes man really man and not just a super-animal.” – Paramahansa Yogananda, Autobiograpy of a Yogi

In that sense, the superconscious mind is a level of awareness where one can see the material reality as well as the energy behind that reality.

In contrast, you can see the subconscious mind as a bridge between the superconscious and conscious mind.

Another way to look at it is that the subconscious controls most of our life but draws from past actions and the habits we have created from them. Hence, ideas arising from the subconscious are not new.

In comparison, the superconscious mind can provide us with novel and creative ideas.

How to Access The Superconscious Mind

How to Tap into the Superconscious Mind

Now after reading all this about superconsciousness you might be thinking that this is reserved Mystics, Sages, Yogis, and Saints.

But do not be mistaken you have most likely tapped into the superconscious mind before.

That time when you were super immersed in your work. Completely in the flow, time flying by without your notice.

Or that time when you went on a run and you were about to break down in exhaustion. But suddenly a high picked you up and you started flying over the ground.

Or that other time when you were frustrated about a problem and you let go of trying to solve it. And without warning, the solution just emerged out of nowhere.

Meditation

Starting a meditation practice is an excellent way to induce higher states of consciousness. Note that there are many different types of meditation. And each can alter your perception in different ways.

To stay in a prolonged state of superconsciousness you need focus. And meditation is the right place to start.

When starting off try the meditation practice that resonates with you the most. Here are a couple of different meditation techniques you can choose from.

Movement

Move your body every day. Walk, run, stretch, swim, dance, lift weights, practice yoga. Do whatever way of movement you like to keep your body healthy, strong, and flexible.

An unhealthy body inhibits the flow of energy.

Regular movement will raise your vibration. And sometimes movement or working out can even induce a superconscious state. Examples are the so-called runner’s high or a yogi who’s completely present in his yoga practice.

Gratitude and Love

Gratitude and love are powerful forces of nature.

The more you practice gratitude for things in your life the more you will tap into states of happiness and joy.

Being loving towards others and yourself will accelerate this effect.

I get it, sometimes it’s difficult to be loving. But bear in mind that this is a practice and the intention to commit to being loving is already a big leap.

Being loving also means forgiving yourself when you’re not acting from a place of love. See where this is going? It’s about letting the past moment go and giving your best in THIS moment.

Whenever you’re about to react emotionally stop for a second and breathe. And then ask yourself what would love do?

Asking myself this question helped me tremendously in being more loving and compassionate.

Don’t Filter

When the superconscious mind speaks through you don’t try to filter it.

This means that when you have inspirational ideas and thoughts you don’t shoot them down with doubts. Don’t put a logical filter above it and come up with a bunch of ‘buts’.

This is your fear of failure and greatness speaking. Accept that you are worthy of great, genius ideas.

One tip is to always keep a journal with you. That way you can quickly jot down any ideas, thoughts, hinges, and images that pop up. If you have them on paper they already exist in a physical form. Hence, you don’t have to keep thinking about them.

Later you can come back and evaluate them, to see if there is something useful. As a bonus, keeping a journal is a sure-fire way to be more creative.

△△△

Now to sum this up. You can perceive the superconscious mind from different perspectives.

If you like the mystical approach you may see it as your higher Self. Or if you like a more grounded perspective you can regard the superconscious mind as a state of optimal, creative functioning.

What is superconsciousness to you?
